Tottenham sack second manager in two days as Postecoglou text message surfaces Tottenham Hotspur are facing serious upheaval after sacking both their men’s and women’s head coaches within the span of two days. Ange Postecoglou was dismissed on Saturday despite winning the Europa League and delivering the club’s first major trophy in 17 years. The decision came after Spurs ended the Premier League season in a disappointing 17th place, their worst-ever league finish. The sacking has proven controversial among fans and players alike. Midfielder Yves Bissouma shared a touching text message from Postecoglou, which highlighted the strong bond between the Australian coach and his squad. In the exchange, Postecoglou expressed pride in Bissouma and thanked him for his belief in the team’s mission. Bissouma replied with heartfelt gratitude, crediting the coach for believing in and supporting him on and off the pitch. Numerous players including Heung Min Son, Richarlison, James Maddison, and Pedro Porro also posted tributes to the outgoing coach. Just two days later, Tottenham announced that women’s team manager Robert Vilahamn had also been relieved of his duties. Vilahamn joined Spurs in July 2023 and initially impressed by leading the team to its first FA Cup final and a sixth-place finish in the WSL. However, a poor 2024-25 campaign saw the women’s team finish second from bottom, conceding 44 goals in 22 matches. Tottenham’s women’s managing director Andy Rogers thanked Vilahamn for his professionalism but said results had not met expectations. The club is now tasked with finding replacements for both roles during a crucial summer. Brentford manager Thomas Frank is reportedly the leading candidate to take over the men’s team and has already expressed interest in the job. Tottenham now look ahead to a massive rebuild across both teams as they try to steady a rapidly rocking ship.
