Putin Highlights Importance of Russia’s Nuclear Triad in New Arms Program Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized on Wednesday that the new state arms program for 2027-2036 should prioritize the development and maintenance of Russia’s nuclear triad—that is, land-based missiles, sea-based submarines, and aircraft-launched weapons. Speaking at a meeting with senior officials, Putin stated that the nuclear triad remains a critical guarantee of Russia's sovereignty and a key factor in maintaining global strategic stability. He also noted that 95% of Russia’s strategic nuclear weapons are fully modernized, which he described as a high standard compared to other nuclear powers.
Broadcast on state television, were made at a meeting of senior officials devoted to the country's arms industry. "Undoubtedly, special attention should be paid to the nuclear triad, which has been and will remain the guarantee of Russia's sovereignty and plays a key role in upholding the balance of forces in the world," Putin said. Putin underscored the importance of strengthening Russia’s nuclear forces as a central element of national security amid ongoing international tensions.
