Iran Threatens to Attack U.S. Bases in the Region if Conflict Breaks Out Iran’s Defense Minister, Aziz Nasirzadeh, warned on Wednesday that Iran is prepared to strike U.S. military bases across the region if a conflict with the United States erupts. The statement comes just days before a scheduled sixth round of nuclear talks between Iran and the U.S. Nasirzadeh said that if Iran is forced into conflict, it can target all U.S. bases in host countries, asserting Iran’s capability to do so boldly. This comes amid rising tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and ongoing negotiations aimed at reviving a nuclear deal.
U.S. President Donald Trump has previously threatened Iran with bombing if a new nuclear agreement is not reached. The upcoming talks, scheduled for this week in Oman, involve Iran’s potential counter-proposals to U.S. offers, amid disagreements over uranium enrichment and missile development. Iran insists its nuclear activities are peaceful, but Western powers suspect otherwise, particularly over Iran’s uranium enrichment program and missile tests. Iran recently tested a missile with a two-ton warhead and refuses limitations on its missile development, notably under guidance from top leadership including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
