(In Nigeria) Yelewata Mourns as Over 200 Killed in Benue Massacre, Youths Demand Government Action Against Suspected Herdsmen

Yelewata, a community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, is reeling from a devastating attack by suspected armed herdsmen in the early hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025. The brutal assault claimed over 200 lives, with many residents, including women and children, massacred and numerous others forced to flee their homes, becoming internally displaced.

In response to the tragedy, outraged youths from Yelewata gathered in the Wukurum area of Makurdi, the state capital, to protest and demand urgent government intervention.

They called for enhanced security measures to protect their community from further attacks by the suspected herdsmen, highlighting the ongoing threat to their lives and livelihoods.
