While online claims suggest a police officer died and Chivita products were looted, verified reports indicate no casualties and confirm the tanker was carrying petroleum, not consumables.
The incident caused significant traffic congestion along the expressway on June 11, 2025. The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and other emergency officials were on site to prevent further damage.
Although misinformation spread about looting and fatalities, credible media outlets like Channels TV confirmed there were no deaths or injuries, and no theft of goods occurred during or after the explosion.
