Erica is making waves in Nigeria because of reality TV star Erica Nlewedim's response to criticism after a video of her struggling to speak Igbo went viral. 

The former BBNaija housemate was mocked online, mostly by fellow Igbos, for her lack of fluency. In response, Erica condemned the backlash, calling it self-hatred and questioning why her own people were quick to shame rather than support her.

Erica argued that other ethnic groups are not mocked for similar struggles and highlighted a double standard within Nigerian society.
