IAEA Chief Reports Iran Warning Against Israeli Strikes on Nuclear Facilities IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi revealed that Iran has warned him that an Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities could backfire by making Iran more determined to develop a nuclear weapon. Grossi expressed concerns that such a strike could reinforce Iran’s resolve to pursue atomic weapons or withdraw from the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Grossi, however, doubted that Israel would launch such an attack, noting that Iran’s nuclear program is extensive and would require overwhelming force to disrupt.
Recently, Iran and the U.S. have been engaged in Oman-mediated nuclear talks, with Iran set to submit a counter-proposal to the U.S. for a nuclear deal. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against taking actions that could derail the negotiations, emphasizing that the U.S. is close to reaching a solution. Trump and Netanyahu are expected to speak by phone today.
