Harrison Odjegba Okene’s Astonishing Survival in Sunken Tugboat Inspires Global Awe

Harrison Odjegba Okene was a cook on the tugboat Jascon-4, which sank off the coast of Nigeria in May 2013. The boat flipped over and sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, trapping Harrison in an air pocket inside the ship. While all 11 of his crewmates died, Harrison miraculously survived, stuck 100 feet underwater in total darkness. For three days, he was alone, surrounded by cold water, with only a small pocket of air keeping him alive. He had no food and was running out of oxygen, but he prayed and held onto hope.

On the third day, rescue divers, who were there to recover bodies, found Harrison by accident. He was curled up in a corner, almost out of air but still alive. His rescue amazed people around the world, turning his story into an incredible tale of survival and hope against all odds. This scenario motivated him to become a professional rescue diver himself❗️
