The Gaza-bound aid vessel Madleen, operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, was intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters on Sunday. Climate activist Greta Thunberg was indeed on board the British-flagged yacht, which was carrying essential supplies for civilians in Gaza.
Named after a female fisherwoman from Gaza, the Madleen was seized and towed to Israel, prompting widespread condemnation and international calls for the activists’ release.

The vessel was boarded roughly 185 km from Gaza, with reports of Israeli commandos using a white substance during the operation.
Among the 12 people on board was French MEP Rima Hassan. Israel labelled the flotilla a political stunt, while rights groups called the seizure illegal under maritime law. France and others are demanding the safe return of detained citizens and the delivery of essential aid to Gaza.
