A fierce firefight erupted between the attackers and Buratai’s escorting troops, with insurgents targeting high-value military assets, including Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPVs), tanks, and machine guns. Some equipment was reportedly destroyed or stolen during the assault. While casualty details remain undisclosed, Buratai’s team repelled the attack, allowing him to proceed with his mission. The incident highlights the persistent security threats posed by insurgent groups in northeastern Nigeria, particularly in Borno State, a known stronghold of militant activity.
