FIFA Club World Cup Winner to Get $125m as Chelsea and Man City Learn Minimum Earnings

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will offer unprecedented prize money, with the winning team potentially earning $125 million. The tournament’s prize structure includes $2 million per group stage win, $1 million per draw, $7.5 million for the round of 16, $13.125 million for the quarterfinals, $21 million for the semifinals, $30 million for the finalist, and $40 million for the champion. European clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are guaranteed a minimum participation fee of nearly $40 million, with earnings ranging from $12.81 million to $38.19 million based on club ranking and revenue. Conmebol clubs will receive $15.21 million, Concacaf, CAF, and AFC clubs $9.55 million, and OFC teams $3.58 million as minimum participation fees. FIFA plans to redistribute all tournament revenue to club football, targeting an additional $250 million for global club development, without retaining any funds or dipping into its reserves. This financial incentive explains strategic moves like Real Madrid’s €10 million ($11.3 million) payment to Liverpool for Trent Alexander-Arnold, ensuring his eligibility for the tournament rather than waiting for his free transfer 30 days later, which would have delayed his integration. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that the prize money reflects the tournament’s status as the pinnacle of club football, with a seven-match group stage and playoff format. The solidarity investment program aims to boost football globally, supporting FIFA’s 211 member associations. The tournament’s commercial success will determine the final solidarity payment, promising a significant financial uplift for clubs worldwide and reinforcing FIFA’s commitment to making football truly global.
