Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy Accuses Russia of 'Deception' Over Peace Memorandum

 



Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy criticized Russia for delaying the peace process, alleging that Moscow is engaging in "yet another deception" by withholding a promised peace memorandum ahead of a scheduled meeting between Kyiv and Moscow.


Zelenskiy emphasized that Ukraine, its partners, and Turkey have yet to receive the proposed document, which Russia claims to have drafted. He accused Russia of stalling the negotiations and called for increased pressure on Moscow from the international community.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that a second round of talks might happen in Istanbul, but Kyiv has expressed doubts, suggesting that Russia is avoiding transparency and trying to make negotiations futile.


In the US, President Donald Trump, who continues to push for a resolution, hopes the Istanbul meeting will proceed as planned. The Biden administration, under President Trump’s leadership, remains engaged in encouraging diplomatic efforts.
