Ukrainian Drones Hit Russian Weapons Production Sites, Kyiv Says

Ukraine's military announced on Wednesday that it conducted a major overnight drone attack, hitting several key Russian weapons manufacturing facilities. Moscow reported that its air defenses repelled the attacks.

Both Ukraine and Russia have carried out aerial strikes deep behind the front lines, more than three years into the ongoing conflict.

The targets included Russia’s Kronstadt plant in Dubna near Moscow, which produces drones; the Raduga plant that makes cruise missiles; and the Angstrem microchip factory in Zelenograd, in the Moscow region. The microchip factory supplies components widely used by Russia's military-industrial complex.

Videos circulating online showed fires and smoke at the technological park where the microchip factory is located. Reuters verified the location of the footage but could not confirm the date.

Russia’s defense ministry claimed to have downed 296 Ukrainian drones across 13 regions overnight.

Ukraine’s military did not specify the weapons used, but an official from Ukraine’s SBU security agency stated that drones were employed. Kyiv reportedly lacks long-range missile capabilities.

Additionally, Ukraine claimed a successful attack on a chemical factory in the Ivanovo region the day before, producing chemicals used in explosives and rocket fuel.
