Taylor Swift Wins Big: Regains Ownership of Master Recordings

Taylor Swift has officially regained ownership of her master recordings from her first six studio albums. This milestone ends a six-year battle that began when her music was sold without her consent.

Fans and fellow artists are celebrating her victory, which reinforces the importance of creative control and artists’ rights in the music industry, especially for women navigating complex label contracts.

Swift previously began re-recording her early albums under the “Taylor’s Version” brand to reclaim her legacy. With this new deal, she now owns the original recordings, music videos, and related artwork.

The transaction was completed with Shamrock Capital, excluding Scooter Braun, who originally acquired her catalog.

Swift thanked her team and fans, calling the moment empowering and historic for all artists fighting for their intellectual property rights.
