(Male Actor of the day)
Salman Khan, born Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan on December 27, 1965, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, is the eldest son of legendary screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife, Sushila Charak (later Salma Khan). Raised in a family closely connected to the Indian film industry, Salman grew up with three siblings — Arbaaz, Sohail, and Alvira — and later an adopted sister, Arpita. He spent much of his childhood in both Indore and Mumbai, attending prestigious institutions like St. Stanislaus High School and briefly St. Xavier’s College, which he dropped out of to pursue acting. Even as a child, Salman was known for his mischievous personality and passion for fitness and painting.

Salman Khan began his career with a supporting role in the film Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), but his breakthrough came a year later with Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), which turned him into an overnight sensation. Over the next few years, he cemented his place as one of Bollywood's leading romantic heroes with hits like Baaghi, Saajan, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!. By the late 1990s and early 2000s, Salman began to diversify his roles, experimenting with action and comedy in films like Judwaa, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, and Tere Naam. His raw charisma, chiseled physique, and mass appeal made him a favorite across age groups.
From 2010 onwards, Salman entered what many call the "Salman Khan Era" with massive commercial hits such as Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and the Tiger franchise. His films became synonymous with Eid releases, often smashing box office records. Besides acting, he also turned producer with his company Salman Khan Films, backing both commercial and niche films. He is also known for his television career, particularly as the long-time host of Bigg Boss, which has significantly boosted his popularity among the masses.

However, Salman Khan's life has also been marred by controversies and legal troubles. One of the most infamous incidents was the 2002 hit-and-run case, where he was accused of driving under the influence and killing a homeless man sleeping on the pavement. He was convicted but later acquitted on appeal. In another legal issue, he was found guilty of killing blackbucks — a protected species — during a film shoot in 1998, for which he served a short jail sentence. His relationships, particularly with actresses like Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif, also garnered heavy media scrutiny, with reports of abuse and emotional turmoil making headlines.
Despite the controversies, Salman remains one of the most beloved and bankable stars in Indian cinema. He has cultivated an image of a philanthropist through his charity foundation, Being Human, which focuses on education and healthcare for the underprivileged. His fans remain fiercely loyal, often defending him passionately against criticism. He has also mentored several newcomers in the industry, including actors like Katrina Kaif, Daisy Shah, and his own brothers.
As of now, Salman Khan continues to be a dominant force in Bollywood, both as a film star and television personality. While his recent films like Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan have received mixed reviews, he remains an irreplaceable fixture in the industry. His upcoming projects include new entries in the Tiger and Kick franchises, and there's frequent speculation about his personal life and possible marriage. Despite his age, Salman maintains a rigorous fitness regime and continues to command immense fan following, proving his resilience in an industry known for rapid change.See also: 8 Beautiful Vacation Destinations That Most Tourists Don't Know About.
