Russian air defense forces reportedly intercepted four Ukrainian drones heading toward Moscow

Russian air defense forces reportedly intercepted four Ukrainian drones heading toward Moscow, according to the city's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin. Earlier reports indicated that one drone was downed in the Moscow region, with several others destroyed over neighboring Kaluga region.

In response to the ongoing drone activity, authorities temporarily closed Zhukovsky airport near Moscow and the main airport in Kaluga. The Russian Defence Ministry also announced that its forces had shot down 524 drones over the past 24 hours, though specific locations were not disclosed.

The heightened drone activity comes as Moscow prepares to host over 20 world leaders, including China's Xi Jinping, for a significant military parade in Red Square on Friday, commemorating the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany.
