Russian President Vladimir Putin announced following a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump that Moscow is prepared to work with Ukraine on a memorandum outlining the framework for a potential peace agreement. Putin expressed optimism that efforts to end the conflict are on the right track, noting that Russia supports dialogue aimed at resolving the crisis.

Putin highlighted that Russia and the United States agreed to collaborate with Ukraine on defining key principles for settlement, including timelines and the nature of a ceasefire. The two countries plan to specify conditions for a possible peace accord, including ceasefire duration.

Western leaders, particularly in Europe and the U.S., remain skeptical about Putin’s sincerity, expressing concerns that Russia might negotiate a peace that significantly compromises Ukraine’s territorial integrity and security. Moscow maintains that its actions are responses to Western expansionism and NATO’s encroachment.
