Ozoemena Echoes in Nigeria: Biafra Heroes Day Commemorates Civil War Tragedy

 



On May 30, Nigeria pauses to observe Biafra Heroes Day, a solemn occasion declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to honor the heroes and heroines who perished during the Nigerian Civil War, also known as the Biafran War, from 1967 to 1970. The day serves as an annual memorial to reflect on the immense loss and suffering caused by the conflict.

The term "Ozoemena," meaning "may it not happen again" in Igbo, has become a powerful rallying cry circulating across Nigeria.
