Kremlin on Trump's 'playing with fire' comments: National interests paramount for Putin Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's remark that Vladimir Putin was "playing with fire" by refusing to engage in ceasefire negotiations with Kyiv. Peskov stated that for Russia, the national interest remains the top priority. During a conference call with reporters on Wednesday, Peskov also mentioned that a potential meeting involving Putin, Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should only occur after adequate preparations and discussions.
