Isco and Gavi recalled to Spain squad for Nations League semi-final clash with France

Spain has recalled Real Betis midfielder Isco and Barcelona’s Gavi to the national team for their UEFA Nations League semi-final clash against France on June 5 2025 in Stuttgart. Isco who last played for Spain in 2019 during Euro 2020 qualifiers earns a deserved return after an impressive La Liga campaign. The 33 year old was previously called up for Euro 2024 but a late injury forced him out. His experience and creativity are expected to bolster Spain’s midfield as they aim to defend their Nations League title.

Gavi the 20 year old Barcelona star is back for the first time since November 2023 when he suffered a devastating ACL injury during a Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia. His recovery has been closely monitored and his return adds dynamism and tenacity to the squad. Spain the reigning Euro 2024 and Nations League champions secured their semi-final spot with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.

The squad also welcomes back Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi who has recovered from injury and Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen who earns another call-up. However Real Madrid’s Raul Asencio and Barcelona’s Inigo Martinez have been omitted from the selection. Coach Luis de la Fuente will look to blend youth and experience as Spain faces a formidable France side in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

With Isco’s flair and Gavi’s energy Spain is gearing up for a crucial match that could see them advance to the Nations League final. Fans are buzzing with excitement for this blockbuster showdown.
