(In United Kingdom) Harold Shipman Comparisons Resurface in TV Show and Murder Inquiry.

 

Harold Shipman renewed comparisons in two high-profile media events. 

On 28 May 2025, during an episode of The Traitors, contestant Jake Brown accused Dr. Kasim Ahmed of being a “Traitor” by implying he could “save lives by day and murder by night.” 

Dr. Ahmed replied that Brown was essentially calling him “Harold Shipman,” prompting backlash.

In addition, a public inquiry into convicted nurse Lucy Letby has brought Shipman’s name back into focus. 

On 27 May 2025, The Times reported that Dr. Jim McCormack had warned Countess of Chester Hospital executives as far back as 2016 about a potential “Harold Shipman situation,” two years before Letby’s arrest in 2018.
