(In Nigeria) FIRS Office Sealed Over 25-Year Unpaid Ground Rent in Abuja

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office in Abuja's Wuse Zone 5 has been sealed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) due to a staggering 25-year unpaid ground rent debt.

The action is part of a larger enforcement effort by the FCTA targeting long-term defaulters.

Other notable closures include an Access Bank branch and a Total Energies fuel station in Wuse, also shut over unpaid rent spanning decades.

This clampdown is the latest in FCTA’s intensified efforts to enforce land use compliance, following the recent revocation of 4,794 land titles across Abuja.

The affected properties had accumulated billions in unpaid rent. Officials say the crackdown aims to recover public revenue and enforce regulations.

Property owners and organisations are now urged to settle outstanding liabilities promptly to avoid similar enforcement actions in the capital.
