Atiku Tells Tinubu to Call His Son Seyi to Order Over Alleged Interference in NANS
Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has urged President Bola Tinubu to restrain his family members, especially his son Seyi Tinubu, over allegations of interference in the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
Through his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku criticized recent developments, describing Nigeria’s political space as not a “private estate” and warning that such actions threaten democratic principles and civil liberties.
The call followed claims by Comrade Atiku Isah, a factional NANS president, who alleged that Seyi Tinubu tried to bribe him with N100 million to support Tinubu’s presidency. Isah alleged the bribe was offered in Lagos, and that after rejecting it, he was abducted and assaulted by thugs on April 15.
Seyi Tinubu has denied the allegations, stating he never met Isah and accusing him of fabricating the story to smear his name.

Atiku condemned the alleged coercion, warning that Tinubu’s family members should refrain from exerting undue influence through threats, violence, or intimidation. He described the allegations as “deeply alarming,” asserting they undermine democratic norms and civil liberties, and warned that if true, such acts could harm Nigeria’s reputation and stability.
He emphasized that Nigeria is a democratic republic, not a monarchy, and dismissed any claims of political alliance with Isah, clarifying that their past meeting focused solely on education reform.
Atiku called for an independent investigation into the matter, warning against any harm to Isah. He stressed that Nigerians deserve accountability, the rule of law, and leadership that respects democratic institutions, warning that attempts to silence dissent through abuse of power are unacceptable.
