(In Nigeria) Atiku Meets Aregbesola: Opposition Alliance Rumblings Ahead of 2027

 

The Former Osun State Governor Aregbesola hosted the ex-Vice President Atiku at his Ilesa residence, where they shared breakfast. 

The visit, documented by Atiku online, sparked political chatter, especially as chants of “Tinubu will fall in 2027” were heard. 

Their meeting is widely seen as a strategic move in the buildup to the 2027 elections, fuelling opposition alliance rumours.

Atiku’s visit coincided with the coronation of Oba Clement Haastrup as Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, underscoring the political and cultural importance of the trip. 

Aregbesola, once a key ally of President Tinubu, has since distanced himself politically. 

Observers interpret this meeting as part of Atiku’s efforts to build a formidable coalition, possibly positioning himself for another presidential run ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
