Anne Sansa Daly is drawing significant attention in Ghana following the revocation of her appointment as a board member of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) by President John Dramani Mahama on May 23, 2025. The decision, announced via a letter signed by Secretary to the President Callistus Mahama, was prompted by revelations that Daly had misrepresented herself as a medical doctor and a graduate of Johns Hopkins University. Investigations confirmed she lacked a valid medical license in Ghana and had no record at Johns Hopkins, sparking public and professional backlash. Health sector stakeholders questioned her qualifications for the NHIA board, which oversees Ghana’s critical health insurance system. Despite her claim of being certified to practice internal medicine in the United States, her lawyer’s defense failed to quell the controversy. Prof. Ernest Yorke, Vice President of the Ghana Medical Association, replaced her, restoring confidence in the board. The incident, amplified by media like GHOne TV, has fueled discussions on the need for rigorous vetting in public appointments to ensure credibility and trust in Ghana’s health governance.
Official responses from the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and the American Board of Family Medicine have revealed that Anne Sansa Daly holds no valid medical qualifications in either jurisdiction. Investigation has determined that Anne Sansa Daly who has fraudulently paraded herself as a doctor, holds no recognised credentials authorising her to use the title “Doctor” or “MD.”
