(In Ghana) Ibrahim Mahama Sues Bright Simons for GH¢10 Million Over Defamation Claims

 




Bright Simons, Vice President of IMANI Africa, is facing a GH¢10 million defamation suit from billionaire entrepreneur Ibrahim Mahama, brother of former President John Dramani Mahama.

In the suit, Ibrahim Mahama accused The Imani Africa VP of making defamatory claims described as "false and malicious," which the entrepreneur said have damaged both his personal reputation and that of his company, Engineers and Planners (E&P).



According to court documents filed at an Accra High Court on Wednesday May 28, Mahama alleged that Simons made defamatory claims of E&P being under financial distress in an article titled “Ghana Provides a Lesson in How Not to Nationalise a Gold Mine” published on April 19, 2025, on his personal website, http://brightsimons.com.
