Accra, Ghana – Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, the 80-year-old former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), has been granted bail by the Accra High Court following his arrest in connection with the controversial $2 million Sky Train Project. The academic, who pleaded "not guilty" to charges of causing financial loss to the state and conspiracy, was released on a GH₵10 million bail with two sureties, backed by landed property in Accra.

The Sky Train Project, intended to develop an urban rail system in Ghana, has been at the center of controversy after the $2 million payment failed to materialize into any tangible progress. Professor Ameyaw Akumfi was implicated in the deal, sparking widespread public attention.
