Hamas Executes Four for Looting Aid Trucks Amid Gaza Dissent
Hamas has executed four men accused of looting aid trucks entering Gaza, according to sources familiar with the incident. The men were reportedly involved in thefts last week concurrent with the killing of six security officials by an Israeli airstrike, who were trying to prevent gang members from hijacking aid deliveries.
The executions highlight ongoing tensions and security challenges within Gaza as humanitarian aid begins to arrive following Israel’s easing of a blockade imposed earlier in March. While aid is reaching Gaza, delivery efforts have been hampered by looting and disputes over control of the aid convoys — with Israel accusing Hamas of stealing aid, an allegation Hamas denies.
In addition, some local clan leaders, like Yasser Abu Shabab in Rafah, are establishing armed groups to secure aid deliveries and oppose Hamas's control. Abu Shabab denies allegations of looting and claims his actions are meant to protect aid and oppose corruption.
The situation remains volatile, with internal Palestinian tensions complicating efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance amid ongoing conflict and political disputes.
