Dhul Hijjah Begins: Muslims Worldwide Prepare for Hajj and Eid al-Adha

Dhul Hijjah is making waves worldwide because the crescent moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia, marking the start of the sacred Islamic month

This confirms that Dhul Hijjah 1446 begins tonight, prompting Muslims globally to prepare for key rituals.

The Day of ‘Arafah will be observed on 5 June 2025, followed by Eid al-Adha celebrations on 6 June, a major occasion of faith and sacrifice.

The announcement came from Saudi Arabia’s official moon-sighting authorities and has been acknowledged by several countries that follow its lunar calendar.

Pilgrims are now heading toward Mecca for the Hajj, one of Islam’s five pillars.

The Day of ‘Arafah, a central moment of reflection and prayer, precedes Eid al-Adha, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and is marked with prayers, feasting, and animal sacrifice.
