US Court Blocks Trump Move to Deport Hundreds of Thousands of Migrants.

A federal judge in Boston has blocked the Trump administration from revoking the temporary legal status of hundreds of thousands of Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans in the US.

US District Judge Indira Talwani ruled that the Department of Homeland Security's decision to end the two-year parole granted to these migrants was based on an incorrect interpretation of the law.

The judge stated that the law focuses on individuals who illegally crossed the border, not those who were granted permission to enter the US under a grant of parole. 

Approximately 450,000 people would have faced expedited deportation starting April 24 if the administration's decision had been upheld. 

The ruling came in response to a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's decision to pause various Biden-era parole programs that allowed migrants from these countries to enter the US with US sponsors.
