Ukraine Asks Russia to Halt Strikes on Civilian Targets for 30 Days

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has proposed a 30-day halt to Russian drone and missile strikes on civilian infrastructure. This temporary ceasefire aims to alleviate the humanitarian impact of the ongoing conflict.

Zelenskiy stated that if Russia refuses this proposal, it would demonstrate its intention to continue destructive actions and prolong the war.

The conflict began in 2014, and Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022 has led to widespread international condemnation, economic sanctions, and allegations of genocide and war crimes.

Previous ceasefire attempts, such as the one declared during Orthodox Christmas in January 2023, have failed due to alleged violations by both sides.
