Swedish Rookie Ingrid Lindblad Claims First LPGA Victory in LA Championship Thriller

Ingrid Lindblad, a 25-year-old Swedish rookie, announced her arrival on the LPGA Tour in spectacular fashion by capturing her maiden title at the JM Eagle LA Championship.

In just her third professional start, Lindblad delivered a composed final round of four under par 68 at El Caballero Country Club, securing the win with a total score of 21 under par 267.

...
Facing fierce competition, Lindblad held her nerve as Germany’s Ester Henseleit surged with a scorching 64 and Japan’s Nasa Hataoka charged up the leaderboard with an impressive 63.

In a nail-biting finish, a late bogey by fellow rookie Akie Iwai on the final hole sealed Lindblad’s outright victory, sparing her the tension of a playoff.

Lindblad’s round was a story of precision and calm under pressure. She racked up six birdies and two bogeys within her first 11 holes, then showed remarkable discipline by parring her final seven to close out the win.

...
Her triumph earned her $562,500 in prize money and a coveted place in the 2026/27 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.

The celebration was fitting, with Swedish compatriot Madelene Sagstrom drenching Lindblad in champagne as she joined the ranks of LPGA winners.

...
She now becomes the second rookie to claim a title in the 2025 LPGA season, underlining the fresh talent reshaping the women’s game.

Lindblad’s rise has been long anticipated.  A former world number one amateur and standout player at LSU, she credited her success to confidence, thorough preparation, and the quiet inspiration of Swedish legend Annika Sorenstam, who won on this very course 21 years ago.

With this breakthrough, Lindblad sets her sights on the season’s first major, the Chevron Championship, carrying both momentum and rising expectations.

...
Her steady composure, fearless shot-making, and mental grit hint at a future star in the making — one ready to write her name alongside the greats of women’s golf.
