South African Blogger Musa Khawula to Stay in Custody After Bail Denied

Controversial South African blogger Musa Khawula has had his bail application denied by the Fochville District Court. Khawula has been in remand since January, facing charges related to defamatory statements and the murder of Wandile Wayne.

The magistrate denied bail, citing Khawula's previous violation of bail conditions. The murder charge stems from a March 2024 incident where Khawula allegedly stabbed Wayne to death following a confrontation outside Wayne's home. Khawula claims self-defense, but authorities have pressed charges.

The case has sparked significant interest due to allegations of a same-sex relationship between Khawula and the victim. Khawula's legal troubles continue as he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
