Russia launched an overnight air strike on Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, with the city's air defense forces scrambling to repel the attack, according to the military administration and Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
The mayor urged residents to stay in shelters, posting on Telegram, "Explosions in the capital. Air defenses are working. Stay in shelters!" Witnesses reported hearing loud blasts, likely from air defense units in operation.
At least three people were injured, and several fires broke out in different districts of Kyiv. The attack prompted air alerts across Ukraine, with neighboring countries like Poland on high alert due to concerns about stray missiles.
This escalation comes amid ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides denying targeting civilians.
