Pope Francis wears black pants, not papal attire, in surprise visit to St. Peter's

Pope Francis made a surprise visit to St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, dressed in black pants and a simple outfit, rather than his traditional white papal attire. The 86-year-old pontiff, who is recovering from double pneumonia, was seen in a wheelchair, waving at visitors and receiving supplemental oxygen through a nasal hose.

The unannounced visit was captured on video by a visitor, Luiz Gil, who said few people noticed the pope's arrival. Francis briefly stopped to talk to a family with a baby before continuing on his way. This rare public appearance comes as the pope continues his recovery from a 38-day hospital stay, during which he received treatment for double pneumonia.
