Keely Hodgkinson, the Olympic 800m gold medalist, is making her return to competitive racing at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2025, ending a 10-month absence since her victory at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The British star had an unbeatable 2024 season, winning all nine of her 800m races, including the Olympic final in August with a time of 1:56.72.
However, a minor injury forced her to step away after the Games, missing the rest of the year, including the Diamond League finals. Now fully recovered, she’s ready to hit the track again in Stockholm, a key early season meet typically held in late spring or early summer.
This will be her first race since last August, marking a significant moment for fans and the athletics world.
Hodgkinson spent part of her break training in the Pyrenees with coaches Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows, preparing for what promises to be an exciting comeback.
Last year, she ran a blistering 1:54.61 in London, setting a British record and becoming the sixth fastest woman ever in the event. With her eyes on Jarmila Kratochvilova’s 1:53.28 world record, Stockholm could be where she launches that quest.
Looking further ahead, the World Championships in Tokyo in September 2025 offer her a shot at adding a world title to her Olympic glory.
While details like the Stockholm date and her rivals are still pending as of April 10, 2025, her return is set to electrify the sport.
Known for her speed and tactical brilliance, Hodgkinson is ready to reclaim her spot at the top and inspire a new chapter in her already stellar career.
