Nigeria’s Ministry of Interior Sparks Outrage and Laughter After Official X Account Retweets Pornographic Content.

...

The Nigerian Ministry of Interior has become a viral topic across social media after its official X (formerly Twitter) account was seen reposting explicit adult content a move that left many netizens shocked, amused, and deeply skeptical about the professionalism behind the government's digital operations.

The unexpected retweet, which featured pornographic material, quickly caught the attention of Nigerian users who flooded the platform with reactions ranging from laughter to scathing criticism.

While the post has since been removed, screenshots of the incident continue to circulate widely online.
Speculation about the cause of the blunder has run rampant.

Some users believe the account may have been compromised by hackers, while others suggest a more embarrassing scenario that the ministry’s social media handler may have forgotten to switch from the official government account to a personal one before engaging in adult content.

So far, the Ministry of Interior has not released any official statement to clarify what happened.  However, the silence has only fueled the online uproar.

Many Nigerians have taken the opportunity to call out what they see as a broader issue of poor digital governance and unprofessional conduct within public institutions.

“This is not just a gaffe, it’s symptomatic of the casual and careless work ethic that plagues so many government offices,” one user tweeted.

Others echoed similar sentiments, accusing the ministry of setting a poor example and failing to uphold even the most basic standards of online accountability.

The incident has once again raised questions about the competence of government personnel handling sensitive digital platforms and the need for stricter oversight in managing official communications.

Whether the repost was the result of human error or a security breach, the episode has cast a spotlight on Nigeria’s ongoing struggle with digital literacy and accountability in governance.
