Blackbell is trending in Nigeria because the restaurant is currently receiving attention following Special Adviser on Economic Affairs, Tope Fasua's claim on Arise TV that he visited Blackbell restaurant and saw that people can still get a meal for 2500 Naira at BlackBell.

The Special Adviser's claim has generated widespread outrage from netizens who have taken to the timeline to debunk his claim.

Tope Fasua made the reference to Blackbell restaurant in a bid to convince hosts of Arise TV's The Morning Show that the poverty rate in Nigeria is not as severe as people allege it is.

The Special Adviser further narrated that people from across the country have forwarded him photos and names of restaurants as proof that food can still be bought with a sum as low as 1500 naira in Nigeria.
