Kenyan Politics in Turmoil: Gachagua Claims Ruto Offered Bribe for Resignation

Impeachment is trending in Kenya because former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claims he has an audio of President William Ruto and a senior official plotting his ouster, offering him KSh 2 billion to resign.

Gachagua, also known as Riggy G was impeached in October 2024 for corruption and other charges, says he rejected the bribe, recorded the talk, and may release it, intensifying a political feud with Ruto.

The saga deepens as Gachagua alleges MPs and senators were paid KSh 500,000 and KSh 10 million each to secure his impeachment, while Ruto counters that Gachagua demanded KSh 10 billion for political loyalty.

No audio has surfaced as of April 8, 2025, leaving Kenyans speculating. This clash between former allies signals a fractured coalition, with 2027 elections on the horizon, gripping the nation’s attention.
