(In The U.S.): White House Criticizes Zelenskiy’s Approach to Peace Negotiations.

The White House has issued a sharp rebuke of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s approach to peace negotiations, warning that his current stance could be harming efforts to bring the war with Russia to an end.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump is growing increasingly frustrated with what he sees as a lack of cooperation and urgency from Kyiv. 

According to Leavitt, Trump is deeply concerned that Zelenskiy is steering the talks in a direction that makes a resolution more difficult to achieve.

“The president’s frustrated.  His patience is running very thin.  He wants to do what’s right for the world.  He wants to see peace.  He wants to see the killing stop, but you need both sides of the war willing to do that,” Leavitt said. 

She added that Zelenskiy’s recent political maneuvers and public statements suggest a resistance to compromise, raising doubts about Ukraine’s willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Sources close to the White House say that behind closed doors, Trump has been pressing advisers on alternative paths to peace and exploring potential channels of communication with both Ukrainian and Russian officials. 

The administration reportedly believes that continued military escalation without parallel diplomatic progress will only deepen the humanitarian crisis and prolong global instability.

Tensions between Washington and Kyiv have simmered in recent weeks as the Biden-era consensus of unwavering support for Ukraine gives way to more conditional expectations under the Trump administration.

 Trump’s allies in Congress have also signaled that future military aid packages could be contingent on a clearer commitment from Ukraine to return to the negotiating table.

Despite the growing pressure, Zelenskiy has remained defiant in public statements, reiterating that any peace deal must include the full restoration of Ukrainian territory and accountability for Russian aggression.  

His position continues to receive strong backing from many European leaders, though some are increasingly calling for a more flexible approach to end the conflict.

The war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, has caused widespread destruction and displaced millions. 

As battlefield lines remain largely frozen, diplomatic breakthroughs have become more elusive, and international observers fear that without renewed efforts toward negotiation, the war could drag on indefinitely.
