In Spain: Former F1 Academy Champ Marta Garcia Survives High-Speed Crash at Le Mans

Former F1 Academy champion Marta Garcia has avoided any major injuries after suffering a huge crash at high speed while leading the GT3 class as the Le Mans Cup, her Iron Dames team has confirmed 

Marta Garcia, the former F1 Academy champion, escaped a frightening high speed crash during the Michelin Le Mans Cup at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya on April 5, 2025.

She was leading the GT3 class in her Iron Dames Porsche 911 GT3 R when an AF Corse Ferrari driven by Eliseo Donno struck her from behind. The collision launched her car into the air causing it to slam into the tire barrier. The impact scattered debris across the track and sparked a fire at the rear of her vehicle prompting an immediate red flag with 57 minutes left in the race. Despite the severity of the crash Garcia managed to climb out of the wreckage unaided.

 She was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary medical evaluations. On April 6 her team provided a positive update stating that extensive tests revealed no major injuries. They noted that she was back to her cheerful self already smiling and in good spirits. Garcia stayed overnight for observation with a follow up assessment planned but the prognosis looks promising.

The Iron Dames team expressed deep gratitude to the medical staff for their swift response and to fans worldwide for their outpouring of support. They emphasized that her well being is their top priority and are relieved she avoided serious harm. 

The incident highlighted the dangers of motorsport but also Garcia's resilience. Her ability to walk away from such a dramatic wreck underscores her toughness and has left her team and supporters optimistic about her swift return to racing.

 For now the focus remains on her recovery with everyone breathing a sigh of relief at the fortunate outcome.
