In Nigeria: "Take It Back" Protests; Citizens Demand Reforms and Better Governance.

Citizens across Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan and other parts of Nigeria are rallying under the April 7 protest to demand the repeal of the Cybercrime Act and advocate for good governance.

The protest, which coincides with National Police Day, has sparked tension as the Nigeria Police cautioned against what it called an “ill-timed” demonstration, warning it could tarnish the nation’s image and disrupt official celebrations.

The police, in a statement, acknowledged citizens' rights to peaceful protest but questioned the protest’s timing, alleging it might be a calculated attempt to undermine Police Day celebrations.

Organisers were advised to engage government institutions through dialogue instead.

Meanwhile, protesters in major cities continue calling for responsible leadership and legislative reforms, urging action for the repeal of the Cybercrime Act.
