In Nigeria, Supreme Court Removes Julius Abure as Labour Party National Chairman.

Abure and the Labour Party are trending in Nigeria because the Supreme Court has removed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

The court nullified the Court of Appeal’s earlier decision, declaring that leadership issues are internal party matters beyond its jurisdiction.

The ruling also pointed out that Abure’s tenure had expired, further disqualifying him from claiming the chairmanship position.

This decision marks a new phase in the Labour Party’s ongoing leadership crisis. Abure’s removal comes after months of legal tussles and internal disputes, notably with figures like Lamidi Apapa.

The Supreme Court also dismissed a cross-appeal by Abure’s faction. Abure had previously faced serious allegations including attempted murder, intensifying the party’s turmoil.

The court’s verdict could pave the way for fresh leadership within the party.
