(In Nigeria) Restructuring Begins: NNPC Removes MDs of Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna Refineries

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has made a significant move, removing the Managing Directors of its Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries

This move is part of a larger restructuring effort led by the new leadership under Bayo Ojulari and Musa Ahmadu-Kida.

It aims to revitalize the country’s refining capacity and improve domestic fuel production, reducing reliance on imported refined petroleum products.

This change aligns with ongoing efforts to privatize these refineries. The federal government says it is focused on boosting Nigeria's energy security through public-private partnerships.

The restructuring also involves significant staff changes, including senior officials nearing retirement.

There are also plans to involve private firms in operating the Warri and Kaduna refineries.
