In Nigeria: Nyesom Wike Hosts Suspended Rivers Lawmakers to Dinner in UK

 

Nyesom Wike is trending in Nigeria because he recently hosted suspended Rivers State House of Assembly members at a dinner in the UK on Monday night. The FCT Minister left Nigeria on Sunday after visiting political allies in Port Harcourt. The lawmakers were in the UK for a five-day Legislative Capacity Building tour, aimed at enhancing their parliamentary skills, which began in Central London.

The event, captured in a video shared on X by Wike’s aide, Lere Olayinka, on April 8, highlighted the minister’s engagement with the lawmakers. Olayinka noted that Wike’s trip followed meetings with political associates in Rivers State. According to Martins Wachukwu, media assistant to Assembly Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the UK tour was designed to offer lawmakers a chance for peer review and a deeper grasp of legislative practices.
