The Warri Refinery, recently overhauled, has ceased operations since January 25, 2025, due to safety issues in its Crude Distillation Unit Main Heater. Emerging reports reveal the shutdown, sparking concerns about the refinery's functionality and impact on Nigeria's oil production.
Reacting to the news of the refinery's closure, Nigerians have slammed The Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC) for lack of integrity and an inability to manage the nation’s critical oil infrastructure, leading to its flop barely one month after a highly publicized revamp which cost 897 million dollars.
