(In Ghana) ECOWAS Celebrates 50 Years with Unity Initiative

 

ECOWAS is taking center stage in Ghana because the political and economic union launched its 50th anniversary in Accra, today, April 22.

Speaking at the event with the theme "Celebrating 50 Years of West African Unity and Integration”,   President John Dramani Mahama announced that Ghana will offer 1,000 scholarships to university students from across the ECOWAS subregion.

President Mahama described his scholarship initiative as a practical step towards building unity among West African youths.

The scholarship programme is expected to be implemented in partnership with Ghana’s public universities and coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
