(In Croatia) Tragic Accident Claims Life of Ex-Croatia Footballer Nikola Pokrivac




Former Croatian international Nikola Pokrivac, aged 39, died in a tragic four-vehicle accident in Karlovac, Croatia, on April 18, 2025. The crash claimed another life and left two of Pokrivac’s teammates from NK Vojnic, a fourth-tier club, in critical condition. 




The Croatian Football Federation expressed profound grief, with President Marijan Kustic struggling to find words for the loss of such a young life. Pokrivac, a talented midfielder, played a key role at Dinamo Zagreb and earned 15 caps for Croatia between 2008 and 2010. His career also took him to prominent clubs like AS Monaco and RB Salzburg, where he showcased his skill and determination. Both Dinamo Zagreb and Monaco issued heartfelt tributes, highlighting his resilience, especially after overcoming a serious illness.
