Ghana's Sports Minister Kofi Adams Denies Hiding Black Stars Budget

Ghana's Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, has denied allegations of withholding the budget for the Black Stars' World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. Adams assured that the budget would be made public, but explained that releasing a draft document would be premature. The minister's denial comes after President John Dramani Mahama called for transparency in government expenditure on national teams during his State of the Nation Address in February.  Adams attributed the delay in publishing the budget to the need to avoid distractions for the team during critical matches, stating that sometimes, some situations create distractions for the team, so we should weigh every situation before making a decision. He also noted that caring for the Black Stars is expensive, particularly since many players are based in Europe. The Black Stars next matches are scheduled for September against Chad and Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
