European Union trade chief Sefcovic to go to Washington for talks on Monday

European Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič is heading to Washington on Sunday for crucial talks with US officials on Monday, aiming to strike a deal on tariffs. This development comes after US President Donald Trump announced a reduction in hefty duti es imposed on the European Union and other countries.

In response, the EU has agreed to pause its counter-tariffs, creating a potential opening for negotiations. EU trade spokesperson Olof Gill emphasized their readiness to engage in discussions, stating, "We have plenty to offer, and we're ready to talk." The EU is optimistic about making progress, but Gill cautioned that all options remain on the table if negotiations don't yield a favorable outcome
